Objectives of the English Curriculum

In order to facilitate a balanced development of pupils’ four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing, the literacy programme PLP-R/W has been implemented in KS 1. The school-based reading programme has also been launched in KS2 to help students acquire effective reading skills and strategies. In pursuit of our aim to enhance students’ learning, we offer authentic learning environments and hand-on experiences to students. Students can apply what they have learnt and extend their understanding of other cultures through a wide range of contexts. These experiences not only maximize student engagement, but also establish students’ interest and confidence in learning English. We have also employed a variety of teaching strategies to address learner diversity. Various tasks and activities have been developed to suit the specific needs of both less able learners and more able learners, as well as the needs of learners with different learning styles.
